Human Rights Policy

SEKISUI KASEI Group’s management philosophy states, “We, SEKISUI KASEI, practice ‘Zen-in Keiei’ based on respect for people and mutual trust. We are always innovating in our aim of ‘new happiness’ ”. Under this philosophy, we strive to be “a new chemical solutions company that cares for people and the planet as it creates new value”.
We understand that, in order to truly contribute to the achievement of a sustainable society, we must respect human rights of all individuals who may be affected by the business activities of SEKISUI KASEI Group.
Accordingly, for the purpose of promoting respect for human rights, with the approval of the Board of Directors, we hereby establish the “SEKISUI KASEI Group Human Rights Policy” (hereinafter, this “Policy”), based on the “Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights” adopted by the United Nations Human Rights Council in June 2011.

  • Article 1. Our Basic Approach to Human Rights
    This Policy outlines our commitment to respecting human rights for the purpose of fulfilling our responsibilities to all our stakeholders based on our management philosophy and corporate vision. Accordingly, we support and respect the applicable international standards for human rights, including the “International Bill of Human Rights” (consisting of the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights”, the “International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights” and the “International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights”) adopted by the United Nations setting out the fundamental human rights of all individuals, as well as the “ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work” adopted by the International Labour Organization (ILO) setting out the fundamental rights at work.
  • Article 2. Scope of Application
    This Policy applies to all directors, officers and employees of SEKISUI KASEI Group. In addition, we expect and encourage all our business partners linked to our products and services to understand, support and respect this Policy.
  • Article 3. Responsibility for Respecting Human Rights
    We understand that our business activities may affect human rights. We do not to infringe on any human right of any individual who may be affected by our business activities and take appropriate measures to remediate any adverse impact on any human right if caused by our business activities, thereby fulfilling our responsibility to respect human rights and establishing our responsible supply chain.
  • Article 4. Human Rights Due Diligence
    We conduct human rights due diligence based on this Policy to fulfill our responsibility to respect human rights. In the due diligence process, we assess the potential impact on human rights which we may cause in the society and prevent and mitigate any adverse impact identified.
  • Article 5. Dialogue and Consultation
    We sincerely dialogue and consult with our stakeholders, in the process of implementing this Policy.
  • Article 6. Education and Training
    We provide appropriate education and training to ensure that this Policy penetrates into all of our business activities and is effectively implemented.
  • Article 7. Remediation
    If any business activity of SEKISUI KASEI Group is found to have caused or contributed to an adverse impact on any human right or is found to have been involved with such adverse impact through any of our business partners’ activities, we remediate the adverse impact by means of dialogues and appropriate measures in accordance with the applicable international standards.
  • Article 8. Responsible Persons
    We clearly specify the persons who are responsible for implementation of this Policy.
  • Article 9. Applicable Laws and Regulations
    We comply with the applicable laws and regulations of each country or region in which each of our group companies operates. In the event of any conflict between the internationally recognized human rights and the applicable laws and regulations of the foresaid countries or regions, we will seek ways to honor the principles of internationally recognized human rights to the greatest extent possible.
