We respect freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining, provide a safe and healthy working environment, ensure freedom of movement, and prohibit discrimination based on race, nationality, age, disability, religion, social origin, gender, or gender identity. We also respect the rights of indigenous peoples and local communities, prohibit excessive and unjust working hours, and ensure the absence of unpaid wages. As we expand our global business activities, we comply with local laws and promote initiatives to respect human rights.
In line with our policy, we enhance the knowledge and understanding of human rights across the group through references in our Compliance Manual and handbooks. We also conduct regular compliance training, including harassment training for managers and training on labor-related laws, to prevent human rights violations such as harassment and legal infractions.
Furthermore, reflecting the principles of our Human Rights Policy, we believe that local employment and procurement, which contribute to the sustainable development of local communities, are important as we expand our global business. We actively hire local talent at each site.
In the event of suspected human rights violations, such as harassment or violations of labor-related laws, we have established the "SKG Clean Network" as a confidential consultation and internal reporting system. This system is managed by both an internal office and an external law firm.
Additionally, under the Compliance and Risk Management Committee, we have established a Human Rights Subcommittee composed of multiple organizations. This subcommittee, with the advice of external experts, conducts human rights due diligence across the entire supply chain based on our Human Rights Policy.
Conducting Human Rights Due Diligence
As part of our supplier procurement measures, SEKISUI KASEI Group informs and seeks the understanding of our business partners regarding our Human Rights Policy. This policy promotes the prohibition of child labor, forced labor, and discrimination, the respect for freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining, the elimination of excessive and unjust working hours, compliance with minimum wage laws, and adherence to local laws related to human rights protection.
We engage in stakeholder activities, including surveys and on-site visits, to understand compliance status among our business partners, including new suppliers. In the fiscal year 2024, we conducted surveys with 52 major business partners. No issues requiring immediate action were identified regarding the aforementioned items, environmental conservation, or health and safety based on our Human Rights Policy. However, we have identified and are closely monitoring the significant human rights issue of high human rights risks for foreign workers in Japan.
We will continue to conduct human rights due diligence to identify significant human rights issues and work to prevent and mitigate human rights risks.
